Graduates taking up vocational training/skills,what's your take?

Lets take a look at this new found love of government
officials to remind youths at any given opportunity on the need to
take up vocational training as a way out of massive unemployment
ravaging the land. It has become another escape route for government
to explain away its inability to provide jobs for the teeming hordes
of unemployed graduates in the country.

We are talking about vocational skills like tailoring, carpentry, plumbing,
handcraft, catering, electrical and electronics repairs, etc which have been
previously dominated by school dropouts or those who dont have flair
for formal education. Well, many reason that the exposure and
education that graduates have will be brought to bear in doing things
differently from their uneducated contemporaries when they take up
this same vocational skills.

While am not against graduates taking up
vocational skills to boost their qualifications in the light of the
massive unemployment in the land,i am totally against the government's
stance of projecting vocational skills as the solution to the
unemployment problem. For goodness sake, the problem wasnt caused or
created by the graduates but was due to the government's inabilility
to be proactive in adding value and creating the right environment for
the creation of new jobs to the existing ones. They left that
responsibility solely in the hands of the private sector which has
been overwhelmed over the years.

The government has got to go beyond
pretentious efforts at solving the problem by providing the required
infrastructure and conducive environment for businesses to thrive cos
if this approach that is being canvassed by government is strictly
followed by graduates, then the less educated ones will be left without
any means of livelihood or what do you think?
